The main subject of our group is to investigate basic principles to control condensed matters by using strong pulsed and steady magnetic fields. A magnetic field is a unique external environment because of the precise controllability in the intensity, time structure, and hysteresis. Novel magnetic state and exotic electronic phase are induced by high magnetic fields. For example, it enables us to control the quantum state of nano-scale magnet. Such knowledge is essential for quantum information science and develoment of information material. The original and unique advanced spectrometers such as THz-ESR, high field X-day spectrometer are used for these researches.
The graph shows the hysteresis, in odd-number spinring, caused by spin chirality. |

The photograph shows the mini coil developed for high magnetic field X-ray diffraction at SPring8. It has established the world record of 50 T in 2004. |
