Stable and controlled amphoteric doping by organic molecules encapsulated inside carbon nanotubes


  We have found that various molecules can be inserted into single walled carbon nanotubes, allowing us to control the conducting properties of carbon nanotubes through the charge transfer from the encapsulated molecules. The present result was published in the advanced on-line version of Nature Materials Vol. 2 (2003) on Sept. 7th, followed by press reports in Mainichi, Nikkei, Sankei, Nikkan-Kogyo, and etc. on Sept. 8th.
