Strange magnetic order in superconductivity

2014/02/06

IMR, Tohoku University (Prof. D. Aoki) and a research group of CEA-Grenoble (Dr. S. Raymond) discovered a strange magnetic order in the superconductivity on the heavy fermion compound including rare earth atom. It is so-called “Q-phase”, which is found to be related to the anisotropic superconducting gap. This discovery will shed light on the mechanism of superconductivity and magnetism. The results were reported in the journal of “The Science News” on 31 Jan, and the paper was selected as “Editors’ Choice” in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn.
