Signifi cant reduction in electric power loss in transmitting by the development of novel nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials

Research and Development Center for Ultra High Efficiency Nano-crystalline Soft Magnetic Material established in June 2012 is one of the three programs for advanced material technologies in Tohoku authorized by the National project of MEXT and Reconstruction Agency. We aim to develop novel nanocrystalline magnetic alloys "NANOMET®" with unique nanohetero structure from amorphous phase, superior magnetic properties and cost-effectiveness. A platform is to be built up for the collaboration between professors/researchers and engineers with different skills from academics and industries, to provide solutions to a number of basic scientific issues and technical problems for the commercialization of new magnetic materials with extremely low core loss. The present center will also contribute to make essential design guidelines in the field of nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials. Moreover, the multi-faceted collaboration among government, industry and academia motivated by the present center could lead to the blooming of industries in Tohoku region.
