Innovative Materials Research through Complementary Use of Quantum Beams

The Center of Neutron Science for Advanced Materials and the Center for Advanced Light Source and Materials Science have been integrated to form the Quantum Beam Center for Materials Research (QBCMR) in order to promote collaborative materials research utilizing the unique characteristics of each center. The Neutron Section provides general users with the opportunity to conduct experiments using the neutron diffractometer and neutron spectrometer managed by IMR at the JRR-3 research reactor on joint usage. The Synchrotron Radiation Section strengthens collaboration between researchers involved in synchrotron radiation research, primarily at NanoTerasu, and works to contribute to the development of materials research using synchrotron radiation. Furthermore, we will establish a platform for the complementary use of neutrons and synchrotron radiation in order to promote multi-probe materials science research.
